Learn to
drive one to six mules at Queen Valley Mule Ranch
Steve can help you in your pleasure driving or your commercial
driving. At Queen Valley Mule Ranch you can learn all about
driving, from a single mule to a team of six.
You can bring your own mules or mules
can be provided for you. The following is a description of each
type of driving you can learn at Queen Valley Mule Ranch.
Driving
a Single Mule
In the first level of driving you will
learn how to harness and drive a single mule. Learn the names of
all of the parts of a harness. Steve will teach you how to
properly handle the lines and to communicate with the mule through your
hands. Learn “Gee” (right) and “Haw” (left) as well as backing up
and going forward. First level will be taught in the arena.
Driving
Two Mules
Next you can learn how to drive two mules,
how to harness them, hook them up properly and adjust the harness
correctly. You will also learn more specific details about the
parts of the
harness. Second level driving will be taught in the arena.
Driving
Two Mules on the Road
Third level will be driving a team outside
of the ranch, on the road with the opportunity to encounter more
obstacles such as animals and vehicle traffic. You will be able to
harness the team on your own, name the parts of the harness and
understand the function of each part. You will be able to hookup
and do everything you need to do to go down the road properly and
safely. Safety is emphasized strongly in all disciplines of mule
handling whether it is riding, packing, or driving. Queen Valley
Mule Ranch's most important consideration is the safety of you and your
mules.
Driving
a Four Up
Fourth level is learning how to hook up
and drive four mules at a time. You will progress in the same
manner as explained above with one and two mules.
Driving
a Six Up
Fifth level is learning how to hook up and
drive six mules at a
time. You will progress in the same manner as explained above
with one, two, and four mules.
Driving Class Costs:
$80 per hour for driving a single mule, each hour after that is $65 if you are using your own mule and $80 if you are using mine. Add
$50 per hour for each additional mule in a team (up to 6 mules).
