How do I evaluate for disposition?

How do you evaluate for Disposition?

When outside of the corral, I allow the mule to walk up to me and look at me, I allow the mule to be first. Once close enough where I can scratch the side of their jaw and preferably side of neck then that tells me that the mule likes to be with people. Next, when I walk in the corral, if the mule turns and looks at me and just waits then I will step to the right or the left and wait and see if the mule will want to come over and visit with me without me having to go after it. Next if I am leading the mule and it follows me and doesn’t require a whole lot then the mule recognizes leadership, the mule willing stands there nice and quiet, willing lets me brush and clean them up.

“Stacey says how do you evaluate for disposition? How do you evaluate for disposition? Disposition is going to be like this when I am outside of the court I’m looking at I hand out camera floppy, come over here. I don’t do that. I just sit there.

I may be talking to another person but then the meal kind of walks up. I allow the meal me first and look at me and then when I get closer or I can scratch the side of their jaw, preferably side of their neck then that tells me the meal really kind of likes to be with people. Next step. Let’s just say I just want to walk in the corral. When I walk in the corral and as I walk in doesn’t turn and look at me we will turn and walk away.

Doesn’t look at me and just wait. If it does, then I may step to the right. I never go direct to the right or to the left. My coral is built. I’ll wait, see if the mule wants to come over here and visit with me without me having to go after it.

And I don’t allow them to come into my space. And when they’re coming toward me, I usually will stop and go to the right, and that will tell them to stay right there. And then I will walk to their shoulder. The next thing, let’s just say I’m leading the meal and the meal follows me pretty honestly and doesn’t require a whole lot that’s nice. The mule wants to be with me the meal recognizes the leadership when I’m picking up all 4ft the meal willingly picks up the feet.

The meal willingly likes me to brush and clean them up. Willingly stands there nice and quiet without me to have to tie him up things like little things like that make a big difference.”
